Let’s be honest: those old-school “light-heaters” usually suck in a steamy bathroom. They just aren’t built for the constant mist and spray of a modern shower. That’s why we’ve been moving toward IP55-rated infrared heaters. They actually handle the moisture without blowing a fuse. What’s the deal with IP55? Basically, it means the unit is sealed tight. It keeps dust out and can take a spray of water from any angle without breaking a sweat. In a bathroom, that’s a lifesaver. It stops stray droplets from hitting the electrical guts of the machine. A lot of cheap heaters just use a piece of glass that leaks. We do things differently with sealed gaskets and beefed-up housings to keep everything dry. If you’re installing this in a high-steam zone, that seal is the only thing keeping your breaker from tripping mid-shower. The difference you actually feel Most heaters try to warm up the air. But air moves. The second you step out of the shower, that warm air vanishes and you’re shivering again. Infrared is different. It sends out waves that warm your skin and the surfaces around you directly. It’s like stepping into a patch of sunlight. You feel the heatinstantly. No more waiting around for the whole room to warm up. A few things to keep in mind for the install We made these as drop-in replacements, so they should slide right into your old ceiling fixtures. We even tweaked the mounting brackets to fit standard junction boxes, so you aren’t fighting with the hardware. But, a heads-up: these things get hot. Since the heat is so concentrated, you have to be careful where you put them. If you mount it too low or too close to some plastic trim, you might actually warp the material. Get your ceiling height right so the heat spreads across the floor instead of creating one scorching hotspot. Also, check your wiring. These pull more juice than a basic LED light, so make sure your circuit can handle the load.
