We wanted to build a table heater that doesn’t freak out the moment a few raindrops hit it or a bit of dust settles on the casing. That’s why we went with an IP55 rating. In plain English? It means you can put these on your patio or in a humid spot and not spend the whole night worrying if you’re about to blow a fuse or short something out. Heat that happens right now Most heaters try to warm up the air around you, which is a slow process—especially outside where the wind just blows the warmth away. Our heaters do things differently. They use short-wave infrared, which acts more like the sun. It doesn’t waste time with the air; it just hits you and your friends with direct warmth. You hit a button, and boom. You’re warm. No waiting around for a “warm-up cycle” while you’re shivering. Controlling it from your couch The best part is that you don’t have to actually get up to turn them on. We’ve made these work with Zigbee and Matter, so they play nice with the smart hubs you probably already have. Whether you’re using an app or just shouting a command at your voice assistant, the signal hits a heavy-duty relay that kicks the heater into gear. We also used thick, heavy-gauge wiring because these lamps pull a lot of power when they first kick in, and we didn’t want any weak links in the chain. A couple of things to keep in mind Here’s the deal: these things pack a punch. Because they use a lot of electricity, you can’t just plug ten of them into one smart circuit or you’ll be staring at a tripped breaker. Just keep an eye on your home’s total power capacity. Also, while the internals are protected from the weather, the outside of the unit getshot. Really hot. Give it at least 30cm of breathing room away from anything that could burn. It’s basically the muscle of an industrial heater with the brains of a smart home.
